Carcinoma
Carcinomas are cancerous tumors, as are sarcomas or myeloma. These anomalies, unlike polyps, nodules, adenomas or cysts, are often malignant tumours.
Definition and localization of carcinomas
Carcinomas are tumors that mainly affect the tissues and cells of the skin. Their severity is based on:
their location;
Their microscopic appearance (their ability to reproduce or not the cells of the tissue on which they develop).
Carcinomas alone account for 80% of cancers.

Two types of carcinomas
Two major types of carcinomas are distinguished:
Squamous carcinomas (or squamous carcinomas);
Basal carcinomas.
Squamous carcinoma
Squamous carcinoma is the second cause of skin cancer. It is more common in men than in women and is mainly made in the age of 70 years. More generally, squamous carcinomas are characterized by the reproduction of cells resembling those of the epidermis. They are usually preceded by a lesion of the skin or mucous membrane concerned.
Most squamous carcinomas concern:
the skin;
the mouth;
the larynx;
The esophagus;
The bronchi;
the lungs;
the anus;
Female genital organs.
They are likely to cause ganglion damage and metastasis. However, they are generally good prognosis if no metastasis is detected.

Basal carcinoma
It's the most common skin cancer of all. It occurs without lesion and it develops in the deep layer of the skin. Of slow evolution, however, it does not lead to metastasis.
This carcinoma can take three different clinical forms:
Nodular basal carcinoma;
Sclérodermiforme carcinoma;
Superficial carcinoma.
